The United States–India Educational Foundation (USIEF), established in 1950, promotes educational exchange between the U.S. and India. USIEF activities are described on www.usief.org.in. USIEF seeks result-oriented candidates with professional experience and a desire to excel in the following position for its Mumbai office:

Regional Officer (Mumbai)

Basic Functions of the position 
Under the general supervision of the USIEF Deputy Director, the Regional Officer is responsible for supervising the Fulbright-Nehru & other Fulbright Fellowships in the Western region and the EducationUSA Advising Services offered in this region. The Regional Officer conducts an extensive outreach program to promote USIEF visibility; supervises and monitors USIEF staff in the office; manages office administration in the region; interfaces with Indian & American Fulbrighters, alumni and academic institutions; and builds a vibrant USIEF community in the region.  The Regional Officer works closely with the Mumbai Public Affairs Office in the U.S. Consulate to coordinate programming and outreach.


The incumbent’s major duties and responsibilities include:
Supervise Fulbright-Nehru and Other Fulbright Programs in the region including: 

•    Publicize the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowships for Indian citizens in the region
•    Organize screening/selection process and oversee the administrative tasks related to the applications received from Indian citizens
•    Provide and supervise the logistical support to arriving American Fulbright-Nehru scholars 
•    Design and implement programs around visiting American scholars, returning Indian scholars and alumni

    Supervise EducationUSA Advising Services offered at the regional level     including: 
•    Provide/oversee group and individual counseling on U.S. higher education
•    Provide/oversee special workshops and programs on U.S. higher education
•    Organize university fairs in the region
•    Provide assistance  to visiting representatives of U.S. institutions
•    Maintain up-to-date library resources
•    Network with educational institutions in the region for promoting educational advising
•    Coordinate with Public Affairs and the Consular Section of the U.S. Consulate on EducationUSA outreach initiatives to ensure programs are well-organized and support overall consulate goals in this area. 

    Promotion of Fulbright Program & EducationUSA Advising Services:       
•    Promote the Fulbright Fellowships & EducationUSA Advising Services in the region in line with USIEF’s core mission statement and deliver high impact programs across the region from concept and planning through to evaluation and reporting 
•    Prepare media plans and coordinate implementation with the Press Information Officer in the Consulate. 
•    Write quality reports with built in analysis for all internal requirements as agreed (Weekly, Newsletter, Annual Report), for publications, newspapers, website(s) and contribute effectively by participation in any other forum as appropriate
•    Work closely with the Office of Public Affairs to deliver quality programs featuring Fulbright scholars and alumni
•    Develop innovative and timely communication materials
•    Work effectively with the media to promote the Fulbright programs and the Obama Singh Initiative

Administration:
•    Provide USIEF Delhi regular budget and program updates
•    Supervise administrative staff in the region
•    Comply with Fiscal and Administrative guidelines as specified in the USIEF handbook
•    Prepare the Annual Work Plan in the region in line with USIEF’s goals and priorities 
•    Write quality reports with built in analysis for all internal requirements

Professional Development and Research: 
•    Participate in professional development opportunities 
•    Lead and develop staff by providing training opportunities where needed and serve as a resource person as required to maintain and update knowledge of the Fulbright Fellowships and Higher Education sectors 
•    Advise DD/ED on formulating guidelines/directions for Fulbright and EducationUSA Advising Services  
•    Analyze regional program trends, prepare interpretative summaries for planning of outreach and setting of organization priorities by the management

Any other responsibilities assigned by the Deputy Director or Executive Director

Required Qualifications and Skills:
Education:     
Master’s degree in any discipline, preferably Humanities or Arts with a demonstrable interest in the higher education sector. Doctorate degree preferred.  A U.S. University degree is also preferred.

Experience:     
Minimum 10 years of Professional / Supervisory experience preferably in the education sector. Experience in a multicultural environment in an educational institution or NGO will be an added advantage.

Skills:    
High Level Oral and Written English Communication, Public Speaking Skills, Knowledge of the local language (s), Financial management, Networking and Liaising Skills, Partnership Building Skills, Adaptability/Flexibility, Initiative, Team Working. Understanding of academic and business ethics, networking and public speaking skills are essential prerequisites.  The candidate should be able to work independently.  Creativity and problem solving skills are assets. Computer Skills: Fluency in MS Office – Outlook, word, excel, power-point and other presentation tools; database management; adept in Internet based tools and use of social media. 

Knowledge:    Work knowledge; Higher Education Sector in India & US; Business Ethics

Compensation: INR 9.25 Lakhs per annum + Annual Benefits (approx INR. 2.7 Lakhs per annum)
