1. POSITION VACANT:  Team Leader (NGO Validation & Advisory Services), CAF, New Delhi (TL-NVAS)

2BACKGROUND: Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) India is an independent non-profit Trust, registered in India in 1998, and part of the CAF International Network having offices in the UK, USA, Russia, Bulgaria, Australia, Brazil, South Africa and India.

CAF India raises funds to support projects run by charities validated through a rigorous process of independent assessment and evaluation. It does this by managing Company Accounts for corporates, setting up and managing Payroll Giving at companies and helping individuals make community investments through the Donor Advised Fund. Last year, CAF India helped more than 25,000 donors support over 250 non-profits across 18 states in India, raising over 1 million rupees on each working day.

CAF India promotes effective giving, enabling donors to efficiently support the causes they care about and helping charities to make more from what is given. CAF India is cause neutral and the charities supported by it represent diverse causes including Children, Education, Health Care, Livelihood Promotion, Care for the Aged, Animal Welfare and Environment.

CAF India ensures that all its charities, before they become a grantee, go through a process of due diligence and validation and comply with all fiscal, legal and regulatory norms in the country.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Head, Grant Making, the Team Leader - NGO Validation & Advisory Services (TL-NVAS) shall be responsible for independently managing NGO Validation & Advisory Services at CAF India.

Principal accountabilities for the TL-NVAS shall comprise the following:

(1) Developing and implementing a business plan targeted at visibly enhancing the role-profile of CAF India in the space of NGO accreditation, capacity, governance, accountability and transparency and making NGO Validation & Advisory Services, a self-sustaining unit. 
(2) Strengthening strategic partnerships with NGOs, INGOs, corporate and Government. It is expected this will involve the restructuring and establishment of new NGO partnerships, with emphasis on improving quality, excellence and reach.

Key Responsibilities:

(1) Setting up a separate, self-sustaining unit of NGO Validation and Advisory Services;
(2) Providing leadership support in the scope of
 CAF India’s work on NGO validation, capacity building, accountability, transparency and governance, and advocate for the same;
(3) Setting up a vertical within the unit to undertake NGO advisory work in a sustainable way;
(4) Promoting different services offered by
 CAF for NGOs and pro-actively building long term strong relationships with NGOs and business world;
(5) Overseeing the NGO validation programme and ensuring that high quality standards are maintained;
(6) Analysing NGO due diligence reports and identifying capacity building and other needs of NGOs and device effective strategy/ work plan to address the same;
(7) Organizing capacity building workshops for NGOs in the area of governance, leadership, strategic planning, program and financial management, human resource management;
(8) Regularly revisiting and improving
 CAF India’s NGO validation process and formats, with a view to adding more depth and quality;
(9) Undertaking field visits for data compilation on NGO due diligence, analysis and report writing on each NGO due diligence;
(10) Overall responsibility for strengthening and diversifying
 CAF India services for NGOs through proactively identifying new business opportunities, grants and other forms of support;
(11) Creating and maintaining a comprehensive MIS on NGO validations, files and mandatory documents for the project for audit purpose;
 
(12) Building internal team strengths (programmatic and financial) around NGO due diligence;
(13) Representing
 CAF India at relevant forums, conferences, meetings and network with sector/non-sector representative organisations;
(14) Liaising with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Planning Commission and networks of NGOs etc. on policy related issues to NGO sector;
(15) Building relationships with different civil society networks, chambers of commerce, INGOs, and Government agencies and ensure that
 CAF brand is recognised;
(16) Developing a roaster of qualified consultants with expertise in relevant areas and coordinate with them. Identifying consultants, develop TOR and manage delivery against the expectations;
(17) Developing a guidance manual on
 CAF India NGO validation;
(18) Performing any other related task assigned by the line manager.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work/ Sociology/ Social Sciences/ Management/ Accounting and/ or any related field, from a reputed institute.

Experience:

(1) Minimum nine years of work experience, preferably in the NGO sector, managing multiple NGOs and networks; 
(2) Prior experience of setting up business units is desirable;
(3) Must possess knowledge/ understanding of statutory requirements and laws which governs NGO /Foundations /Trusts /company in India;
(4) Prior experience of working with the ‘voluntary’ sector is essential;
(5) Experience of civil society organization’s institutional capacity building is desirable;
(6) Applicants having basic knowledge of accounting shall be at an advantage.

Technical Skills:

(1) Knowledge of NGO ‘market’ and fundraising including ability to meet fundraising targets;
(2) Ability to develop business plans;
(3) Proficiency in using standard MS Office applications.

Interpersonal Skills:

(1) Persuasive; Organized; Business acumen; Proactive; Personal drive to exceed targets; Positive attitude with ability to motivate self and team; Team worker; Analytical skills;
(2) Good presentation skills with an ability to address/ adapt to small and large audiences;
(3) Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal;
 
(4) Excellent networking, negotiating and relationship building skills;
 
(5) Ability and willingness to undertake travel.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross annual remuneration budgeted for the position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
