2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Ipas Development Foundation (IDF) is a Section 25 non-profit company, founded
in 1973, is a global nongovernmental organization dedicated to ending
preventable deaths and disabilities from unsafe abortion. Through local,
national and global partnerships, Ipas works to ensure that women can obtain
safe, respectful and comprehensive abortion care, including counseling and
contraception to prevent future unintended pregnancies.
Ipas has been
working in India for over a decade towards strengthening training systems,
service delivery of comprehensive abortion care services and advocacy
initiatives to increase women's access to safe abortions, with the aim of
making a positive impact on the health of Indian women. Ipas engages closely with the government at
the national and state level to provide technical assistance to strengthen the
comprehensive abortion care policy and program interventions. Ipas program’s geographic coverage
currently includes 11 states - Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh,
Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Assam, West Bengal and Meghalaya
- where they work with the public health system to ensure improved access to
abortion and contraception services for women.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ipas is initiating a project on Expanding Access to IUCD Services (EAISI) to further strengthen the ability of women to exercise their reproductive rights. The objective of the project is to provide support to the Health Department of different states to improve access to quality Family Planning (FP) services, with focus onIntra-Uterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) services, by conducting on-site trainings and providing post training clinical and program support to service providers.

Ipas wishes to
hire a Project Director,
based at Delhi to lead the EAISI project. The position holder shall be
responsible for meeting project deliverables by planning, managing and
monitoring the EAISI project team located at Delhi and the
two project states. The incumbent shall also be responsible for liaising with
stakeholders and coordinating with managerial and technical staff of Ipas,
North Carolina. The position reports to the National Program Manager.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
(1) Managing/ conducting Training of Trainers on comprehensive
contraception including clinical training ofInterval IUCD, Postpartum
IUCD and Post
Abortion IUCD for
mobile training teams (MTT);
(2) Providing technical or clinical support to state teams and supervising onsite trainings and clinical mentoring support;
(3) Liaising with stakeholders like MoHFW, State Health Departments, The Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI), NGO partners and civil society organizations;
(4) Coordinating technical and managerial support from Ipas North Carolina;
(5) Coordinating efforts of the team to monitor the progress of project in states and ensure required support to field offices and mobile training teams;
(6)Developing technical materials and training aids for the project in coordination with other units. If required liaise with other partners to develop the same;
(7) In coordination with the Development Unit and team members develop donor reports, work plans etc;
(8) Representing Ipas work in meetings, workshops and conferences.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Post graduate degree or diploma in obstetrics and gynecology.
Additional degree in management or public health will be preferred.
Experience:
(1) +12 years of experience of working on reproductive health,
family planning is preferable;
(2) Experience of working with international NGOs and public health system;
(3) Experience of conducting training in Family Planning methods, especially IUCD and preferably Postpartum IUCD.

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Strategic thinking, program management, budgeting, leadership
and negotiation skills;
(2) Fluent in spoken and written communication in English and Hindi;
(3) Excellent computer skills with proficiency in standard MS Office applications;
(4) Willingness and ability to travel 40% of the time.
