charter of (a) establishing a network of world class,
India-relevant schools of
public health & strengthening some of the existing schools (b) establishing
standards for public health education through the formation of an accreditation
agency and (c) strengthening research and policy in areas related to public
health.
Project Brief:
There
is a global push to strengthen monitoring of RMNCH spending. The Countdown to
2015 is one of the processes whereby expenditure data is consolidated and
reported. One of the main objectives of this project is to outline a process to
track government expenditures for child, maternal and reproductive health as
part of routine monitoring. The Goal of the project is to provide financial
risk protection to priority population involving RMNCH+A and tuberculosis
related services among India’s rural and urban poor. This will be achieved
through realizing two main objectives:
- Generating evidence on healthcare financing to better inform policies and programs that would influence RMNCH+A & Tuberculosis services and
- Testing integrating health financing models in planning process so as to strengthen health systems and improve RMNCH+A and Tuberculosis services.
The
project also aims at Identifying opportunities, challenges and barriers which
are likely to facilitate scale-up of innovative and sustainable health
financing solutions leading to improved financial risk protection. The project
has a specific focus also on RMNCH+A and it will help in better investments for
maternal and child health related programs and systems and decrease OOP in
vulnerable population in India.
Job Description /
Responsibilities:
The
Senior Research Associate will be responsible for the following activities:
- Support the administration and management of research activities including leading and facilitating some specific activities in conjunction with research team
- Collaborate with domestic and international partners for all activities including research, capacity building and project implementation
- Prepare detailed analysis, summaries and reports, including technical and policy briefs and publications as part of knowledge management;
- Lead knowledge management and dissemination activities
Qualifications /
Experience and skills required
- M.B.B,S + MPH/ M.D in community medicine /PhD or master’s degree in epidemiology, economics, or a related field and 5-7 years of relevant work experience
- Experience in field-work in resource-limited settings
- Excellent project management and study co-ordination skills
- Applied research experience, including designing impact evaluation or operational research projects in India
- At least 5 years professional experience in RMNCH research and implementation in the context of women’s health, primary health care. Demonstrated experience of working with state/ National NRHM Divisions / Health departments
- Experience of statistical analysis and skills with demonstrated hands-on experience with Excel, Stata, SPSS or equivalent
- Some experience with Qualitative data collection and analysis
- Demonstrated capacity to synthesize data into an effective presentation of results for a variety of audiences
- Exceptional diplomatic and interpersonal skills, and an ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Work experience in policy and advocacy an added advantage
- A proven track record in knowledge management and dissemination (peer-reviewed publications, technical briefs, use of social media); Experience of developing and utilising theories of change in health systems research;
- Analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to consolidate and present data;
- Willingness and ability to travel to states in India.
