Project Brief:
There is a global push to strengthen monitoring of RMNCH spending. The Countdown to 2015 is one of the processes whereby expenditure data is consolidated and reported. One of the main objectives of this project is to outline a process to track government expenditures for child, maternal and reproductive health as part of routine monitoring. The Goal of the project is to provide financial risk protection to priority population involving RMNCH+A and tuberculosis related services among India’s rural and urban poor. This will be achieved through realizing two main objectives:
  • Generating evidence on healthcare financing to better inform policies and programs that would influence RMNCH+A & Tuberculosis services and
  • Testing integrating health financing models in planning process so as to strengthen health systems and improve RMNCH+A and Tuberculosis services.
The project also aims at Identifying opportunities, challenges and barriers which are likely to facilitate scale-up of innovative and sustainable health financing solutions leading to improved financial risk protection. The project has a specific focus also on RMNCH+A and it will help in better investments for maternal and child health related programs and systems and decrease OOP in vulnerable population in India.

Job Description / Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant will be responsible for the following activities:
  • Assisting in day-to-day operations, coordination of project activities related to health financing of RMNCH + A;
  • Provide support to core team in planning of all activities including data collection of primary/secondary data (qualitative and quantitative);
  • Assist in handling data analytics and systematic reviews of various issues relating to health care financing and RMNCH + A theme;
  • Facilitate core team in documentation of the project activities;
  • Coordinate with core team the arrangements for workshops, meetings, dissemination activities;
  • Assist the PHFI core team in the preparation of interim and final reports, manuscripts, papers, etc.
  • Conduct data entry of primary/secondary data sets;
  • The position will be based in Delhi, but required to travel extensively within the country;
  • Any other activities as required by the project.
Qualifications / Experience and skills required
  • At least Post-Graduate in Economics/Health Economics/Public Health.
  • Candidates with 1 year experience in analysis of health financing/RMNCH + A activities are preferred.
  • Knowledge and expertise in STATA/SPSS would be preferred with a mandatory requirement of MS (Word and Excel).
  • Experience and expertise in handling primary level data and large scale secondary level data (such as, NSS, NFHS, DLHS) would be preferred.
  • Experience in data entry of primary/secondary data sets would be an asset.
