Project Brief: PIPPSE
The Government of India has declared 2012 as the year of Strengthening Routine Immunization. PHFI has set up an Immunization Technical Support Unit (ITSU) within Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to provide technical support to the Ministry to revitalize and successfully implement the Universal Immunization Program (UIP). ITSU will provide technical and management expertise and build capacity to design, create, implement, and institutionalize a stronger immunization program fully lead by GOI.

Job Description:
  • Assist in development of annual implementation plans of the project.
  • Work closely with the senior management at ITSU to ensure all relevant aspects of the project are efficiently and smoothly implemented.
  • Ensure timely implementation of the project activities under the supervision of the director and the senior advisors.
  • Ensure adequate budget availability through project budgeting and financial planning.
  • Serve as a focal person for communication between the ITSU and the PHFI HR, legal, Admin and finance team. Assist team in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual project report.
  • Serve as a linkage between different stakeholders such as PHFI senior management. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MoHFW) officials, Routine Immunization partner organizations, GAVI-Health System Strengthening secretariat officials and BMGF.
  • Inspect all invoices and payment details along with relevant support documents before authorizing them.
  • Supervise administration officers and executives at ITSU and at MoHFW to ensure smooth operations of the program.
  • Ensure project’s compliance with PHFI’s rules, guideline and manuals.
  • Assist in scheduling meetings with the MoHFW senior officials, RI partner organization, PI of the project and follow up on the action points discussed.
  • Provide the updates to the senior officials at ITSU, and at the MoHFW.
  • Ensure timely submission of the project implementation reports and financial reports to the MoHFW and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Qualification, Competencies / Skills required
  • Post Graduate level qualification in related field (Public Administration, Political Science, Social work, Social Sciences or Public Health)
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in project management is desirable
  • Effective Communication skills
  • Good Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in cross cultural teams
  • Ability to plan, conceptualize and organize
  • Ability to innovate/ “think tank” for the organization
  • Ability to effectively lead and mentor the team
  • Ability to manage the team’s performance
  • Ability to make logical decisions and ensure transparency
