Assistant Agricultural Engineer (Crop Production)

 We are seeking for a dynamic, and self-motivated professional with excellent organizational and people skills for the position of Assistant Agricultural Engineer (Crop Production).

Positions will be based in the Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh in India and may require a travel within or outside India

The main responsibilities of this position will be:

• Assist in EM38 surveying /laser land levelling of BISA farms
• Implement soil and water conservation measures in watershed approaches
• Help in planning and organizing field irrigation in Lakhanwada and Manegaon parcels of BISA farm.
• Organize maintenance of the farm implements for ready to use condition and make need based  changes in design protocol, and oversee  the working of mechanics. 
• Develop database about the farm operations by crop and fields for working out cost in research and production plan.
• Help researches in layout of the research trials and collect crop data , tabulate and assist in analysis of the same using computer software.
• Help cropping system agronomist in conduct of the research trials on precision agriculture. 
• Assist and conduct farmer participatory adoptive field trials in selected villages for testing and extending  CA technologies. 
• Assist in harvesting /threshing and other farm operations as may be assigned by the Team leader /cropping system agronomist for smooth functioning of BISA farms.

Desired qualifications, skills, experiences of the perspective candidate:

• A degree / diploma in either of the disciplines (Agricultural engineering/Farm Machinery or computer sciences 
• Must have excellent knowledge of farming operations 
• Knowledge of MS Excel and office data base management 
• 3 years - As least three years of experience working with farmers
The position is for an initial fixed-term contract of 1 year, after which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.CIMMYT offers an attractive remuneration package, with a range of benefits including health insurance.
