Policy adviser, Gender
Fixed term appointment for two years
Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 per annum, including London allowance
Based: London, Waterloo
You will be joining Christian Aid at a critical juncture, as we seek to increase and enhance our work on gender. You will play a key role in building our expertise, developing our policy work and advocating for gender justice.
This role will strengthen our policy analysis and research capacity on gender, including in the area of gender-based violence. It may also take you into other areas, considering the needs of the most marginalised women and girls, exploring issues around economic rights and thinking about the gendered impact of climate change. You will also support the delivery of Christian Aid’s advocacy work on the post-2015 development agenda and you will play an active role in faith-based coalitions, seeking to strengthen the faith-based response to gender injustice. It will be your responsibility, working with Christian Aid’s Senior Adviser on Poverty and Inequality, to devise appropriate research agendas, to advise Christian Aid on the external policy changes required to achieve gender equality and to respond to key moments and relevant policy processes.
You will need significant advocacy experience in an NGO, public policy or similar environment; have experience of designing and managing research projects and the proven ability to effectively lobby policy-makers. You must be good at expressing complex issues simply and be a team player, able to demonstrate cross-organisational and inter-agency working skills.
Please show your suitability for this post by giving answers to the following questions: Using the guidance notes may help you formulate your answers.
