3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

CIMMYT would like to engage a competent and organized communications professional, to fill the vacancy forAssistant Communications Specialist (ACS), that has arisen with a key flagship project viz. The Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia (CSISA). Reporting to the CSISA Project Leader, as well as theCommunications Specialist, the ACS shall be based at CSISA’s office at New Delhi, India.

Key Responsibilities:

(1) Contributing towards and helping implement a comprehensive communications strategy to advanceCSISA;
(2) Helping shape CSISA’s public messages through effective communications strategies and tactics;
(3) Working closely with CSISA field offices at Bihar, Odisha, Haryana and Tamil Nadu, to generate compelling information to support CSISA’s mission;
(4) Developing and implementing comprehensive media strategies for the project, as directed by the CSISACommunications Specialist and/or CIMMYT’s Director of International Communications;
(5) Raising awareness of the value and impact of CSISA with all stakeholders through appropriate products, events, media and social media channels;
(6) Writing, editing and developing publications, including newsletters, reports and other appropriate communications material;
(7) Writing for the CSISA website and/or websites of the five international agricultural centers that are involved in CSISA;
(8) Working with multi-media communications specialists to document CSISA activities;
(9) Providing necessary support for editing of project technical reports;
(10) Other duties as assigned by the supervisors. 

Position Specific: Executive Assistant BISA

(1) Providing general research support and utilizing all relevant computer software’s to retrieve, maintain and manipulate data and independently responding to the diverse inquiries; Making decisions when multiple courses of action are possible;
(2) Establishing and maintaining relevant files and databases for the BISA Office; Ensuring project documents filed as per defined standards;
(3) Preparing supervisor’s Monthly Activity Reports;
(4) Handling sensitive and confidential information; Exercising judgment, tact and discretion in responding and/or redirecting inquiries to appropriate sources and in dealing with sensitive or highly confidential matters.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or related discipline;

Experience:

(1) At least three years of experience in project communications, marketing, public relations, media campaigns and/or non-profit communications;
(2) Prior experience of working with non-profit organizations or demonstrated understanding of non-profit and/or agricultural research for development environments.

Technical Skills:

(1) Clear grasp of communications strategies and the ability and creativity to apply them to raise awareness ofCSISA’s activities and achievements;
(2) Ability to express technical concepts in clear, simple language for diverse audiences, including the general public.

Essential Interpersonal Skills & Attributes:

(1) Proficiency in English; Knowledge of other languages shall be an advantage;
(2) Proficiency in use of social networking and new media tools;
(3) Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural partnerships.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

The gross remuneration budgeted for this position is Rs. 8 to 9 lacs per annum. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
