1. POSITION VACANT: Nutrition Expert - NRLM
(NE-NRLM), CARE India, New Delhi
2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
CARE India is a part of the CARE International
Confederation working in 84 countries for a world where all people
live in dignity and security.
CARE has been working in India for over 60 years, focusing on
ending poverty and social injustice through comprehensive programmes in health,
education, livelihoods and disaster preparedness and response.
In recent years, CARE India has
been involved with improving the quality and coverage of reproductive, maternal
and child health, family planning, and nutrition services in the states of
Bihar and UP, in collaboration with the government and key development actors
viz. BMGF, DFID and the World Bank, amongst others.
The Government of India, through the National
Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) is endeavoring to link
poor families with sustainable livelihoods opportunities. NRLM through
its mandate, infrastructure and extensive experience of work at community
platforms, is well placed to complement NRHM and ICDS’ efforts
to improve health and nutrition outcomes and goals at the grassroots level.
It is expected that progress toward health and
nutrition goals and outcomes shall be accelerated through greater coordination
between NRLM and the government’s health and nutrition
programs.
CARE India has been requested to help establish a Technical
Support Unit (TSU) at NRLM to play this bridge role.
The TSU shall provide technical inputs for supporting strategy
development, support planning, budgeting, and advocacy and facilitate joint
monitoring and use of data across various levels of NRLM andNRHM.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The NE-NRLM shall report to the
Team Leader, TSU. S/he shall ensure that programme
interventions, specifically designed for implementation of nutrition-related
activities, are incorporated in NRLM.
Key Responsibilities:
(1) Providing high quality technical support to
the NRHM and the ICDS for prioritizing
implementation of the country’s nutrition strategy;
(2) Analyzing various interventions on nutrition and developing technical content and intervention packages to promote the mandate of NRLM;
(3) Supporting NRLM with relevant analysis, state of the art knowledge on nutrition programming, innovations and best practices, and developing new tools and technologies and/or adapting existing ones;
(4) Co-ordinating with other experts in the TSU for effective integration of nutrition component in NRLM;
(5) Be the point person from NRLM TSU for coordination with SRLMs in Bihar and UP.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Postgraduate degree in Nutrition, Masters in
Public Health, or equivalent, from a recognised University or College.
Experience:
(1) 5- 6 years of proven work experience in the
area of nutrition;
(2) Updated knowledge on latest developments nationally as well as internationally in the area of Nutrition.

Skills:
(1) Demonstrated ability and experience of
efficiently managing a team, coordinating with international experts and
liaising with senior government functionaries and other stakeholders;
(2) Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills;
(3) Ability to function effectively as a team member;
(4) Ability to adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds and maintain a high standard of personal conduct;
(5) Ability to travel extensively;
(6) Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of Hindi will be an asset.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross annual remuneration
budgeted for the position is Rs. 13 to 17 lakhs per annum. Offers shall be
commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the
selected candidate.
5. TENURE:
The successful applicant shall be offered a two
to three year employment contract with CARE India.

The position will be based at New Delhi
