Overview:
ISC is seeking a Program
Officer to lead and coordinate the Low Emission Asia Development program
(LEAD) project activities in India. LEAD is USAID’s regional program based in
Bangkok; the project in India will involve helping the corporate sector design
low emission strategies by focusing on their capacity building in tools. This
work will also consist of regional coordination with the other LEAD projects
that are focused on sub-national entities. The position will be based in ISC’s
offices in Mumbai, working closely with ISC’s India Country Director, and will
report to ISC’s Senior Program Officer for the LEAD program based in Bangkok.
Responsibilities:
Serve as
local coordinator for the India LEAD project.
Lead and
oversee all project activities, including planning, implementation, evaluation
and reporting, meeting discussions, presentations, workshops, technical
assistance, and relationship management.
Collaborate
and coordinate with other members of the LEAD team in the region.
Manage
relationships with all project partners, including private sector, government,
implementers, and subject matter experts.
Develop and
maintain a strong network of key stakeholders in the climate arena (NGOs,
academia, thought leaders, foundations, government, private sector).
Follow and
assess key scientific, legislative, and regulatory developments in the field of
climate change and urban development in India.
Support the
design, development, and implementation of additional India-based urban climate
change projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s
degree required, Masters’ degree preferred in Environmental Sciences, Natural
Resource Management, Civil/Environmental Engineering, International
Development, or similar, preferred.
Demonstrated
technical expertise in climate change areas including GHG accounting, corporate
sustainability, and energy efficiency required.
4-6 years of
direct technical experience developing and leading successful projects related
to climate change.
Demonstrated
experience and success in engaging and coordinating multiple stakeholders
(government agencies, private sector, NGOs and foundations) to achieve
sustainability goals.
Ability to
engage with and present to senior corporate and government leaders in a
confident and professional manner.
Awareness of
emerging urban environmental and development trends in India.
A creative,
flexible, fun attitude with an ability to manage workload with minimal
supervision and the willingness to multitask and work cordially with others.
Strong
writing, presentation and communication skills.
Excellent
written and spoken English. Working knowledge of Hindi preferred, working
knowledge of Marathi a plus.
Willingness
to travel locally and regionally (25%).
