Brief introduction of the project:

As part of the Indo-German development cooperation the Rural Financial Institutions Programme (RFIP) and the Rural Insurance Services Programme (RISP) work with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), the Agricultural Insurance Company of India (AICI) and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) of India in the areas of rural finance, microfinance, financial inclusion, crop insurance, integrated risk management and micro insurance. 

The RFIP and the RISP conduct Results Based Monitoring and Evaluation of its portfolio projects. It commissions qualitative and quantitative evaluations of its projects to measure their success indicators

A. Responsibilities

1) Support RFIP and RISP evaluation and research activities in the areas of SHG banking, livelihood development, financial literacy, financial inclusion and crop insurance, micro insurance and integrated risk management.
2) Support evaluations, commissioning evaluations to consultants, data collection and analysis, reports writing and knowledge management.

B. Core scope of tasks 

1) Assist in preparing Terms of References and to conduct background research to commission evaluations, and to assure good quality of evaluations
2) Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to support evaluations
3) Analyze existing survey and administrative data
4) Report writing as well reviewing commissioned reports
5) Conduct literature reviews
6) Writing a number of knowledge products based on project learning for dissemination
7) Managing, advising and overseeing data collection activities in the field.
8) Coordinating and overseeing evaluation consultants

C. Other duties/additional tasks 

1) Support knowledge management of the programme by contributing/writing articles, working papers, etc.
2) Communicate and coordinate with different stakeholders.

D. Required qualifications, competences and experience 

1) At least 4 years of work in access to finance in at least one of the areas of SHG Bank Linkage, Business Correspondents, cooperatives or financial Literacy
2) Experience in data collection in large sample surveys
3) Proficient at analyzing survey data using STATA using simple econometric techniques
4) Experienced in conducting qualitative studies through Focused Group Discussions and personal interviews
5) Experience in traveling and working in rural India
6) Excellent technical writing, communication and presentation skills in English and Hindi
7) Masters’ degree in Economics or equivalent
8) Demonstrated interest in access to finance
