is inviting applications for a senior executive who has experience in building and managing internal operations for a growing ‘values-driven’ organization.

The COO reports to the Executive Director(ED) of Greenpeace India and will lead and manage the heads of Fundraising, Finance and HR. As a member of the senior management team she/he will develop a performance culture among a group of diverse, talented individuals.

The successful COO will be a collaborative leader with a willingness to be a hands-on implementer. While it is essential that the COO bring efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity of the organization, is it also critical that he/she retains the creative spark in the organisation while taking people along in the process.

Reporting to the ED of Greenpeace India, the COO will lead all internal operations and will have the following responsibilities:

• Strategic planning: work in partnership with the ED, to design the organisation planning process and create the strategic 3-year plan and implement new processes and approaches to achieve it

• Management planning: work with department heads to review and finalize departmental plans – fundraising income, program budgets, staffing and any structural changes to a department

• Internal systems: Upgrade & implement appropriate system of policies, internal controls and standard operating procedures

• Performance evaluation & monitoring
o Lead the performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against goals for the organization
o Provide analytical support to the Senior Management Team including development of internal management reporting systems

• Lead and manage the heads of departments, who have the following responsibilities:
o Finance, Technology & Human Resources: Upgrade our systems in Finance, IT and HR to ensure that timely information and support is provided to the organisation

o Fundraising: supporting our Fundraising Director in budgeting, developing systems for reporting, measurement and increasing our share of local revenues

• Compliance monitoring & risk management: provide risk management, regulatory oversight and oversee other legal activities for the organisation

• Crisis Management: Serve as the head of the Crisis Management Team in Greenpeace India, implementing the required tools, training & practices

• Board reporting & liaison: support the ED in preparing for Boarding meetings, preparing regular Board reports and other Board duties as assigned.

What you need for this position

• At least 7-10 years’ experience in an Executive post with a thorough understanding of finance, internal systems & HR

• Experience in managing in a ‘values-driven’ organisation based on trust and respect

• Demonstrated ability to be a hands-on implementer while also being a leader

• Drive for results - proven track record of exceeding goals, holding self and others accountable for results

• Sound decision making & judgement - evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment; ability to act or react with limited information and willingly taking charge of a situation

• Strategic Vision and Agility – demonstrated ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan

• Leadership & organisation – experience in working in a collaborative and participative leadership environment; experience in building organisational and staff capacity

• Educational background - strong preference for formal management qualifications( MBA-General Management/MBA-Finance/MBA-HR/CA/CS )

• Belief and commitment to the vision and values of Greenpeace
