REASON FOR HIRE:

Oxfam India is poised for rapid expansion and has recently undertaken an internal re-structuring exercise to make its functioning more efficient. They are looking to hire an individual with at least 5-7 years of experience in fundraising with experience of developing winning, evidence based proposals and tender bids that demonstrate impact and offer value for money to Institutional donors, Trusts and Foundations. The Manager – Institutional Partnerships is a key position that will support the team members in India, in raising resources. The incumbent will be responsible for developing innovative solutions and approaches to ensure the response to challenges presented through new business opportunities. The role focuses more on an entrepreneurial approach in working with program, finance and related staff to develop and submit donor proposals and tender bids that are evidence base, demonstrate impact and offer value for money to donors.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to research on new donors and make recommendations on Institutional funding prospects beyond Oxfam’s traditional donors.
• Work with relevant programme staff and partners to establish and manage consortium partnerships with similar minded civil society organizations and private sector consultancy firms as appropriate to leverage Oxfam’s chances of success in competitive calls for proposals for proposals and tender bids.
• Explore opportunities for other non-grant forms of funding and support senior leaders by identifying and facilitating opportunities for relationship building with key donors.
• Pioneering entrepreneurial approaches and innovative funding opportunities, including philanthropies; establish strategic relationships to mobilize resources; provide support for proposal/bid/tender preparation and supply specialist information about donors.
• Maintain & develop relationships with existing/traditional donors to protect and optimize returns from these sources.
• Support program staff capacity building and strengthening their skills for building and sustaining high quality relationship management with a range of external organizations.

COMPETENCIES & SOFT SKILLS

Communication Skills

• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work well and flexibly in hard-working, multi-disciplinary teams based at different locations.

Leadership

• Ability to work on own initiative, manage complex workloads and deliver outputs to agreed deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize own workload and work with minimal supervision.

CANDIDATE PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Must Haves:

• A post graduate with minimum 5 years of experience in Fundraising with Institutions, Trusts and Foundations.
• Experience with an NGO in senior programme management positions involving proposal development.
• Excellent writing skills to appeal to target institutional donor audience.
• Proven experience and understanding of working with project design and logic models such as Logical Framework Approach.
• Strong networking skills, communication & negotiation skills to work effectively in cross cultural environment.
