Alliance India works through NGO and CBO partners to support efforts that have a sustainable impact on HIV. We place communities at the center and work to ensure that vulnerable and marginalised people are meaningfully involved in all aspects of our response, including sex workers, men who have sex with men (MSM), transgenders, injecting drug users (IDUs) and people living with HIV. Our programming and policy efforts are driven by evidence of what works; quality and accountability are core priorities in our interventions, technical support and grant management.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to National Training Coordinator, the Training Officer will be responsible for coordinating the development, management and implementation of the training and capacity building programmes of Alliance India under various programmes.  The Training Officer, will support the National Training Coordinator in ensuring the overall success of the training programmes organised under programmes of Alliance India.  S/he will also be responsible for best practice documentation, from the lesson learnt.

Key Responsibilities:
  • In close co-ordination with National Training Coordinator, ensure effective planning and implementation of the training activities under various Alliance India programmes, especially on prevention and care & support.
  • Contribute to the design, development, implementation of training and capacity building programmes to strengthen the capacity of SRs and SSRs in the areas of psycho social support, positive prevention, treatment adherence, organisational development, programme management, advocacy, etc.
  • Contribute to the development of training plan based on requirement of target audience and keeping in mind their context, language & knowledge level.
  • In coordination with National Training Coordinator, prepare training calendars for the programmes and ensure that training programmes are carried out as per the timeline. 
  • In close coordination with programmes team members carryout advocacy training on coordination mechanism with various stakeholders like DAPCU, SACS; and take initiative for strengthening referrals and linkages in the programme. 
  • Ensure timely completion of contracting process for all external consultants/agencies in relation to the training /capacity building programmes. 
  • In collaboration with relevant programme team members, develop a robust monitoring and evaluation framework for trainings and capacity building activities to gauge the progress and impact of capacity building programmes.
  • Ensure all trainings and other capacity building initiatives are documented in accordance with Alliance India’s internal training reporting procedure and communicate this information to external reports.
  • In coordination with other members in the team, maintain the training file for the programme up-to-date and in line with donor requirements.
  • In coordination with the Programmes & Policy Team Assistant, ensure all logistics arrangements for the training programmes are carried out effectively. 
  • Work closely with National Training Coordinator to identify best practices from training programmes, document them accordingly, develop plan for dissemination and sharing with relevant stakeholders.
  • Uphold the mission/vision and values of Alliance India and to work within its equal opportunities framework, demonstrating the behaviours and competencies as appropriate for the position.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:   
    
Qualifications:

Master’s degree in social sciences, public health or development field (or equivalent)

Experience:
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of relevant project management experience in the health or development sectors.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in HIV prevention and care & support programmes.

Skills:
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering training and capacity building programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with trainers and conducting training-of-trainers for existing trainers as well as new trainers.
  • Experience of providing technical support to and capacity building of organisations, especially those working at the community or grassroots level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of development issues and the HIV epidemic(s) in India, particularly in relation to PLHIV and HRGs and other vulnerable populations.
  • Excellent analytical, writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders in civil society and the government at different levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently.
  • The position requires a strong commitment to HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health and NGO activities in India, and a strong interest in and understanding of relevant issues.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake extensive travel, primarily within India.
  • Fluent in English and Hindi.

Desirable Skills:
  • Understanding about GFATM reporting procedures and knowledge of donor’s strategies and policies
  • Knowledge of other Indian regional languages

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED: Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
