The Micronutrient Initiative India
(MII) is a public
charitable Trust registered in Delhi in 2005, with a group of eminent persons
in India as the founding trustees.
The MII operates under a multiyear program agreement with the Micronutrient Initiative (MI) based in Ottawa, Canada which is an international not-for-profit organization that works to ensure the poor - especially women and children - in developing countries get the vitamins and minerals they need to survive and lead productive lives.
The MII’s vision is of an India free of hidden hunger and its consequences. To catalyse the national elimination of vitamin and mineral deficiencies through a combination of advocacy, technical, operational and financial support and providing a stimulus to strengthen and expand nutrition programs in India is therefore the primary mandate of the MII.
I. Program
Background
An important programming priority for MII in partnership with MI and other development partners is to support the Government of India in its efforts to support the Vitamin A Supplementation (VAS) Program for children in the age group of 6 months to 5 years.
II. Job Responsibilities
The main role
of the incumbent will be to provide accounting and administrative support to
the Coordinator Programs, State Program Representative of MII, in
implementation of Vitamin A Supplementation (VAS) Program in Madhya
Pradesh.
The responsibilities will include:
1. Maintain
the accounts related to micronutrient programs in the State
2. Verify
the invoices, program advance settlements and reimbursement claims of the
Divisional Coordinators against expenses / advances and send the same to
Accounts Officer, MII for processing payment.
3. Prepare
a monthly cash forecast for the planned activities and send the same to MII.
4. Maintain
the Monthly Statement of Accounts and send the same to MII.
5. Procure
quotations, prepare comparative statement including contracts / purchase orders
and forward the same to MII for processing,approval of procurement
of equipment and issuing contracts / PO, etc
6. Provide
necessary accounting and administration support to the Divisional Coordinators
(DC), and State Program Representative (SPR) during Vitamin A Supplementation
rounds in particular and other programs in general.
7. Maintain
the administrative records like letter receipt and dispatch registers, stock /
inventory register, fixed asset register, fee register and any other registers
as required for the program activities.
8. Support
project team in identifying local NGOs and preparing Terms of Reference for
facilitating / organising trainings, conducting surveys, etc.
9. Any
other accounts and administration related jobs as requested by the SPR and MII
Delhi office.
The position
will be based at MII’s state office at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and may involve
some amount of travel to districts as and when necessary.
Terms of appointment:
The incumbent
would be appointed for a period of 12 months as consultant. This can be further
extended based on performance, need and availability of funds for the position.
Minimum qualification or specialized
knowledge experience required:
• Professional
degree in accounts / commerce.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the development sector dealing with project accounts and administration.
• Experience in working with the government and NGO would be preferred.
• Fluency in English and knowledge of Hindi an asset
• Computer skills in MS – Office, scanning, records keeping and e-filling
