JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

The Area Manager is responsible for overall management of the Cluster Project Unit of ChildFund India spanning about 45 – 50 villages in the respective project location with an average Annual Budget of $400, 000. As the Head of the Project Unit, the Project Director will be responsible for the entire operations of ChildFund India in the defined geography. 
  The Project Director will also actively participate in the management and development of the organization as a whole through active membership in the Country Management Team.  

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES   

Leads the Program Management - project design, planning and implementation of age-appropriate projects and programs.

Ensures community level action plans are developed and implemented.

Ensures that the project communities, parents, children, and youth are actively engaged in planning, implementation and monitoring of activities that are in line with ChildFund’s core program

Makes frequent visits to communities including family visits. Based on these visits, provides feedback to the Program / Partner staff and ensures that the project staff is guided by it accordingly.

Ensures that all sponsorship requirements are met and structured quality improvement efforts are taking place.

Oversee monthly reports on project activities, training, critical issues, etc and consolidate the same.

Leads the strategic planning by developing clear operational project strategic plan according to ChildFund India’s policies and procedures based on community planning.

Ensures concrete results for the successful implementation of the Country Strategic Plan in the Project communities.

Ensures contacts with district level government bodies / authorities to ensure their cooperation and convergence with program activities.

Identifies local resources that can support / compliment ChildFund India’s presence in the Project and works towards accessing such resources

Promotes goodwill and cooperation by representing ChildFund India in a professional and correct manner.

Maintains smooth flow of communication within the communities/partners as well as with other projects within ChildFund India, other countries and ChildFund Alliance members

Participates actively in the management and development of the organization through active membership in the Country Management Team

Develops Annual Plan & Budget for the Project Unit based on three-year Program Plan approved by ChildFund India

Maintains financial control and monitors budgets on a monthly basis to make sure that budgets are spent according to approved annual allocation.

Seeks the active participation of the Project team by contributing to issues concerning setting direction, supporting, implementing, communication, and decision-making within the Project area.

Ensures that training and development plans for all staff are in place and are relevant to the CSP, personnel and organizational development needs.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE   
       
• Post graduate degree in Development Studies or Social Sciences.
• Additional degree on Project Management, Human Resource Management and Financial Management will be an added advantage
• At least 6-8 years of Child-centric program design and implementation experience including working with community based organizations, resource mobilization and managing field staff.
• At least three years’ experience in program design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and report writing is required.
• Three years of executive management experience is preferred.
• Previous experience of managing significant budget (USD 500,000 or more over three years) is preferred.
• Willingness to undertake large number of competing demands.
• Self-directed, enterprising and goal oriented mindset
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver quality results with analytical, adaptable and crisis management skills
