Room to Read
is an international educational non-governmental organization (NGO) that partners with local communities throughout the developing world to provide quality educational opportunities by establishing libraries, creating local language children's literature, constructing schools, and providing education to girls.
We seek to intervene early in the lives of children in the belief that education empowers people to improve socioeconomic conditions for their families, communities, countries, and future generations. Through the opportunities that only education can provide, we strive to break the cycle of poverty, one child at a time.

We are non-governmental, non-religious and work with many local NGOs and community based organizations to implement our programs. We currently work in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Zambia - countries with a desperate lack of resources to educate their children.
Since our inception, Room to Read's worldwide team has impacted over 7 million children by constructing more than 1663 schools, establishing over 15000 libraries, publishing around 800 new children's book titles in 11 local languages, and putting over 17555 girls onto long-term, holistic scholarships. We are one of ten non-profits to have won the Fast Company / Monitor Group Social Capitalist award five years in a row, we've received Charity Navigator’s highest rating (4 stars) for three straight years, and we've been featured in a variety of media including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CNN, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and PBS. The latest one is the Social Impact Award in the field of Education for the year 2012 by JP Morgan.

Room to Read has an annual budget of approximately US$40 million. Our global headquarters is located in San Francisco, and we have smaller fundraising offices in Hong Kong, London, and Delhi. We have an Asia Regional Office located in New Delhi, a Southern Africa Regional Office in Pretoria, and program offices in Colombo, Dhaka, Ho Chi Minh City, Kathmandu, Lusaka, New Delhi, Pretoria, Phnom Penh, and Vientiane.

Room to Read India was established in 2003. It is headquartered in New Delhi and currently has operations across nine states, viz. Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttarkhand. There are four major programs implemented in India; (1) the School Library

program, (2) the Reading and Writing Instruction program and (3) the Local Language Publishing program under the Literacy Pillar; and (4) the Girls Education Program under the Girls Education Pillar. Room to Read India has been the recipient of the prestigious TOI- JP Morgan Social Impact Award 2013 under the NGO category for education.

Position Overview:

The Reading Room Senior Admin Associate will be located at India Country office. Will assist and report to the Sr. Admin Officer. S/he will provide logistical and administrative assistance in implementing the India Country Program. Primary responsibilities will include Day to day office support, Housekeeping, procurement, maintenance of office files, Ware House, up keep of office, stationary . This position will involve travel to RTR State office in which Room to Read’s Program is implementing.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supervision of Housekeeping on daily basis.
• Ensure that the office equipments are functional and timely repair and maintenance is done.
• Supervising of major office day to day maintenance such as electricity ,plumbing works , Air conditioning ,drinking water, tea coffee machine.
• Ensuring that the work station, conference room, washrooms are in working condition Responding to the staff request.
• Provide logistics support during the time of any workshop/training /meeting /conference with the help of Office Assistant.
• Travel booking, Hotel booking.
• Processing of bills as per the organization guide lines
• Inventory of office equipments and other items
• Invitation of quotation as per the organization guideline from vendors based on the requests.
• Collection of quotations from the vendors and ensure that the quotations are reached on time with the mandatory requirement.
• Prepare the comparative analysis based on the quotations received.
• Maintenance of Vendor Data Base and vendor verification.
• Maintenance of Admin related files office files -
• Point person for the collection book dispatch request from SOs and forward the same to Ware House and ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain an inventory of office equipments and other items

• Assist in gathering information for reports on the status Participate in any other activities, which may be required to be undertaken to fulfill the objectives of the organization.
• Any other job assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce. Experience in successful implementation of a wide range of tasks.
• Experience in administration and operations
• Ability to travel frequently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication Skills
• Effectiveness in working or volunteering in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and a low overhead.

Preferred:

• A minimum 4 years of professional experience.
• Prior experience of working in NGO/development sector.
• Good Analytical skills

The salary range for this position will be determined based upon the experience of the candidate hired. Health benefits are also provided.
