About Us

New Education Group - Foundation for Innovation and Research in Education,(NEG-FIRE)
is a non-profit, non-sectarian, national level NGO, promoting quality education for marginalized communities through NGO’s across India. Though in existence as NEG for over a decade, NEG-FIRE today, is a new entity with legal status and with an expanded mandate of Partnership promotion, Research and Advocacy. It looks forward to a team to steer ahead with its revised goals and objectives.

Job Title: Documentation & Communication Specialist

Location: New Delhi

Role: To manage and explore the potential of communications and documentation of NEG-FIRE with the larger goal of promoting quality education for marginalized children in India.

Key Responsibilities:

Web and Social Media management

• Optimizing NEG-FIRE online presence, overseeing website and content, design and managing the content for social media. Experience in web applications, web writing and online communities is desirable.
• Ensure writing, editing, designing and publishing for blogs, website, periodic newsletters, reports, brochures, annual products and other publications.
• Identifying key media related campaigns during the year and developing other multimedia communication on the same.
• Coordinate with Printers/Designers/Developers for competitive quotations and delivering good quality publication related work; coordination for publication related work, also discussion with developers on raising the visibility of the website

Content management 

• To write and compile content and add value in terms of design, layout and communication based on the inputs from the program team towards the preparation of organizational documents to achieve organization commitments to various stakeholders.
• Identifying story / case study opportunities, developing potential story ideas and communication projects in order to enhance the image of NEG-FIRE and its interventions with the media and the general public. Collect content through photography, videography, stories from the field
• Prepare content and design good quality communication material annual reports, newsletters, brochures, flyers, audio visuals , reports – Donor , Board for advocacy and their timely dissemination

Information Management

• Design and implementation of the internal and external communications of NEG-FIRE to ensure efficient documentation, advocacy and visibility of NEG-FIRE as a credible organization in promoting quality education for marginalized children. This will also include coordination with state offices, designers, printers, PR agency, photographers etc.
• Updating the documentation, communication and publication policy of the organization. Updating photo bank of interventions /events throughout the year.
• Responsible for overall Knowledge management in the organization by creating knowledge, building a database of knowledge from the information available at the organization level for learning and decision making internally and for dissemination of the same.
• Capacity building of self and staff of NEG-FIRE in the context of communications and documentation to aid efficiency in work
• Coordinate with Consultants for any external documentation work that is to be delegated or done on consultation for quality and timely work.
• Networking with other organizations (including the Government and media) to increase visibility and aiding advocacy.

Person Specifications:


• Post Graduate degree or the equivalent, in Journalism Communications or Public Relations or Social Science with at least three years of professional experience in communications, preferably, development sector communications:
• Experience in documentation, writing and editing of reports, stories, publications is critical.
• Ability to have a visual sense and a sharp eye for the quality of content and presentation of documentation and reports and other materials produced
• Ability to communicate effectively through relevant forms of media using information gleaned from documentation
• Ability to analyze information in the documentation of the organization to contribute to institutional learning.
• Making field visits to interact with partners and community and document the program purposefully.
• Also ability to respect timelines and work as a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi
• Knowledge of organizational documents like Good Governance Policy, vision and mission, strategy document etc.
• Knowledge of Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Proven abilities in proposal writing, reporting & analysis.
• Ability to understand and be sensitive to the complexities of working with vulnerable communities.
