Project Brief: 

Gates Grand Challenge Award on One Health Metrics
The proposed activity involves development of an integrated evaluation framework by collating evidence from existing economic and epidemiological models related to rabies and brucellosis and the presentation of the findings using MCDA.

We are seeking a researcher having expertise in economic evaluation who is interested in working with researchers at Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) for developing an integrated cross-sectoral evaluation method on a Gates Grand Challenges Explorations Award based out of PHFI. The researcher will work under the overall guidance of senior researchers having expertise in health economics and epidemiology of zoonoses but is expected to work independently.

This is a fully funded assignment for 12-months based out of New Delhi, India with possibility of extension based upon mutual satisfaction. The ideal candidate should have experience of conducting economic evaluations and some exposure to infectious disease modelling. The position requires demonstrated expertise in either public health economics or animal health economics, with a willingness to learn about the other.

Job Description / Responsibilities:

• Be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team of PHFI researchers within the India Research Initiative on Peri-Urban Human-Animal-Environment Interface
• Review economic evaluation literature around selected zoonoses
• Develop joint modelling approaches based upon inputs from colleagues
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed publications
• Support the team in advocacy, developing and implementing capacity building intervention packages across multiple sites in India
• Contribute generally other activities and development of emerging infectious diseases and zoonoses research at PHFI

Qualifications / Experience required


• PhD or Master’s degree in public health, veterinary public health, health economics, infectious disease epidemiology or related areas from a reputed institution
• Demonstrated research skills in cost effectiveness evaluation
• Prior experience in infectious disease modelling desirable
• Prior experience in policy research and program implementation
• Experience working on zoonoses/ eco-health /public health research in developing countries
• Prior exposure to working in developing countries, especially in South Asia and fluency in Indian languages is an added advantage.

Compensation: Salary ranges between Rs. 80,000/- to Rs. 120,000/-, based on the qualification, experience and the competency of the incumbent selected.
